Throughout his career, Guy Versailles has developed expertise in fields such as communications strategy and planning, with special emphasis on press relations, public affairs, and crisis management. Drawing on his vast experience as political advisor and senior manager, he excels in defining solutions to the most complex and sensitive communications problems
Throughout his career, he has occupied many strategic positions. He worked as Press Secretary and Chief of Staff for different ministers of the Government of Quebec, in fields such as Municipal Affairs, Social Affairs, Canadian Intergovernmental Affairs, and finally as Advisor to the Office of the Premier of Québec.
Leaving the world of politics, he was a communications consultant and manager to major businesses in the public and private sector. He held various senior management positions at Hydro-Québec. He was, among other things, in charge of the reorganization of the company’s press relations and of the implementation of its crisis communications management system, which was successfully used during the ice storm in January 1998. He went on to the position of Vice-president for Communications, Marketing and Public Relations, and member of the senior management committee, of the Solidarity Fund QFL, a major investment fund based in Montreal. Mr. Versailles is presently acting as a consultant, serving major corporations as well as governmental and municipal entities.
Mr. Versailles has planned and coordinated major events and communications programs, managed a number of major crises, acted as spokesperson for major corporations, and managed important communications teams and budgets. He has written hundreds of speeches, documents, articles, reports. He has participated in the strategic planning and reorganization processes of many companies.
Mr. Versailles holds a Bachelor of Arts from Université Laval and has recently completed a graduate course in “Management and Sustainable Development” at Hautes Études Commerciales, Montreal’s foremost business school. He is an accredited member of the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) and a director of the Société des professionnels en relations publiques du Québec (SQPRP), Quebec’s foremost association of public relations professionals. In 2011, he was awarded the SQPRP’s Yves Saint-Amant Award for Excellence, in recognition for his contribution to the advancement of public relations.
