Gilles J. Morin

With extensive experience in business and international public relations, Gilles Morin has headed three missions for Public Relations Without Borders, to Niger, Haiti and Uganda. He spent more than 12 years living in various African countries in addition to managing various public relations and government relations projects for agencies, institutions and NGOs, primarily on issues of decentralization, privatization, monitoring and evaluation, participatory democracy, and cooperation and development. He has also conducted economic and political surveys and is familiar with many cultural environments.

Over the course of his career, he completed numerous assignments in various capacities: project manager, consultant, trainer and corporate coach. In June 2012, he was a guest professor for HEC, providing business communications training to corporate executives in Haiti.

Mr. Morin has broad experience in government communications at the local, national and international level. He worked as chief of staff in the Ministère des Finances et de la privatisation du gouvernement du Québec and coordinated files on privatizing government corporations and reforming financial institutions.

He has developed mastery in on-site logistics and event management through his involvement in international events and conferences, including the Sommet de la Francophonie in Vietnam, the G8 Summit in Alberta and the G8-G20 in Toronto, Floralies internationales de Montréal and the centennial of the Canadian Electrical Association.

In his 25-year career with Hydro-Québec and the James Bay Energy Corporation, he developed strong capabilities in all aspects of public relations and public affairs, crisis management and special projects. He was a member of the expert committee that worked on developing the Montreal Science Centre in Old Montreal.

With a university degree in political science and public administration, Mr. Morin has also honed his skills through training sessions in corporate coaching, project management, marketing, and international cooperation and development.

His social involvement takes various forms, as a volunteer and a committee member, in addition to occasionally serving as a speaker or spokesperson.
